Are you holding on to sentimentality?

Are you holding on to sentimentality?

"Life is a jury box and we must decide for ourselves among all of the witnesses who is most likely speaking something resembling the truth.
To find this we cannot give preference to those who tell us what we want to hear nor give preference to those we have sentimental attachment to. We must think for ourselves.
Delusion may be more fun but the truth can save your life."

This truth was written by my wise and insightful Facebook friend, Paul Garner.

Yes, the truth can save your life, literally AND emotionally, for to live a life with crippling obsessive thoughts and expectations from another who is NOT truthful and real with you is a "sentimental" landmine.

Sentiment is not love, it is sentiment. Sentiment regarding the years together or the good ole days is living for a memory and often causes us to squander our precious present moments and settle for less.

Narcissists look for sentimental people who will suppress the truth of their actions in favor of sentimentality.

How does sentimentality play into your reluctance to LET GO of the narcissist once and for all? Where is "your thinking" regarding how the narcissists words differ from their actions, still delusional?

Much love,
Together and growing past the pain and disappointment into the light,
Goldie
