PPD VS NARCISSISM

I think my Ex has PPD. How can you tell if your partner has PPD or NPD. What are the differences?

The diagnostic category pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), as opposed to specific developmental disorders (SDD), refers to a group of five disorders characterized by delays in the development of multiple basic functions including socialization and communication. * Pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), which includes atypical autism, and is the most common; * Autism, the best-known; * Asperger syndrome, which is high functioning autism; * Rett syndrome; and * Childhood disintegrative disorder (CDD). Narcissists have NO PROBLEMS communicating & socializing. Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, exploiting others and a lack of empathy." Be very careful you aren't getting yourself caught up in TOXIC HOPE and magical thinking that he's got something other than narcissism going on. That will keep you in a bad cycle for years... He needs to see a PSYCHIATRIST. If he refuses to go - he's definitely NOT PPD. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/

ppd vs narcissism

Narcissism has PARANOIA in it. Partly because Narcs are deathly afraid of: being exposed and/or someone figuring out what they are and of REALITY. Read: http://shrinkwrapped.blogs.com/blog/2005/02/narcissism_mali.html http://www.angelfire.com/zine2/narcissism/paranoidnarcissismspectrum.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PPD has these symptoms WITHOUT the Narcissist symptoms: * A pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of others such that their motives are interpreted as malevolent, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by four (or more) of the following: * suspects, without sufficient basis, that others are exploiting, harming, or deceiving him or her * is preoccupied with unjustified doubts about the loyalty or trustworthiness of friends or associates * is reluctant to confide in others because of unwarranted fear that the information will be used maliciously against him or her * reads hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign remarks or events * persistently bears grudges, i.e., is unforgiving of insults, injuries, or slights * perceives attacks on his or her character or reputation that are not apparent to others and is quick to react angrily or to counterattack * has recurrent suspicions, without justification, regarding fidelity of spouse or sexual partner ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/
