"Brutally Honest"

Mine would say in a pompous fashion "I have a scorched earth policy to honesty" !! And yes, you are right - the very words "I am going to be honest" made me tense up to - but it was usually followed by lies and half-truths. Where is the honesty in that? On one occasion, I asked him "Can I speak honestly to you?" and he said "No. I don't want to hear anything you've got to say unless you can say it in once sentence". I should have used two words there and then. My favourites after the 'brutally honest' opening were: "I have known you for over a year and although I enjoy your company, you have STILL not shown me anything to love. I told you that you would have to do that, and you haven't done it. I'm hurt by that" (sub-question - do they get hurt?) "I think I would like you more if you just leave me alone. I will come bouncing back (that bit was true)" "I think you are a very lonely woman. You say you have lots of friends but I haven't seen them" (ha ha ha that's because none of them want to see you !!) Hunter is right - pointless in engaging them in any conversation. As I said on another post, it really is like joining in a game where you don't know what the rules are. To be brutally honest - I will never, never understand it !

You make me laugh Ruby01, it is like talking to a 5 year old isn't it. The best revenge is that you can now decipher his kiddy talk for what it really is...bullshit. It will no longer have the desired effect of making you mull and think and try and understand....but instead you will just laugh and say WTF!!! I love when they use "I'm done with this conversation". My ex would always decide when we were finished talking and cut me off. My N asked me what I was wearing to a "come as what you wanted to be when you grow up" party...I said I hadn't decided. He said "You should go as a prostitute." I just thought you f@#$% moron. LOL I wonder if they all buy the same phrase book.

It does become funny, that's why speaking to them is a complete waste of energy. Hunter
