Do the parents know the narc is that evil?

My ex's father was very kind but as we all know narc not so much.... Do the parents know how awful the narc is and how awful he treats the women?? I bet if the parents knew half of the stuff the narc did they would lock him up and throw away the key or do you think the Narc puts on a act just like he put on a act like just like he put on a act for all of us? I mean surely if the parents knew how awful the narc treated women they would be appalled.
