Emotionally starved

So as many of you already know, my N was an exboyfriend from 18 yrs prior. He often complained that his wife was extremely overweight. After two years in a r/s with him, I told him that the reason she is overweight is because HE emotionally starves her so she eats to fill the void. He said "that's probably true". I even went so far as to say that it would have been me in the same exact situation had I married him. He said "maybe". Today, I am recognizing how smart I was at 21 and how fortunate I am for what I do have: a loving, supportive, emotionally available H who isn't "perfect" but doesn't emotionally starve me.
