Gratitude in our lives

Im going to share a story of one of our forum members tonight. I will not say her name as i would like to protect her identity.

I began talking to her a little over a week ago. She is a young mother that has a baby boy 5 months of age. She has been involved with a man that is a psychopath. He has verbally, emotionally and physically beat her down for sometime now.

She decided to escape on Aug 1, 2010. She took this brave step out of the house with little more than the clothes on her and her sons back. She has no family support to speak of. Very little financial means to survive however, She is resolved to giving her son a better life and she knows if she stays with this man her chances of living to see another day are slim. So She doesn't give up. She wants more for her son. She has come to the board for support, encouragement and to educate herself about the disordered when she can as she doesn't have internet access regularly. She is resolved to the fact that she must stay NC. She is without a home, staying in a hotel and looking for woman shelter service now. She has moments when she thinks maybe she should go back to him. Then she reaches out for reassurance and encouragement to make it through another day. She doesn't give up. I would like to ask everyone to say a little prayer or write a word of encouragement for her tonight. She is truly an inspiration.

I sit here tonight in my home, cozy on the couch with the pets after a nice dinner and i cant help but feel her pain and her fear of the unknown for her and her son and this brings tears to my eyes. But, yet she doesn't give up. She is in a hotel lobby using the computer as i am writing this, working on a plan to survive tomorrow. She has just enough money to make it one more day in the hotel. But she still doesn't give up. I dont think i have ever met anyone quite like her. I keep waiting for the news that she went back but i dont think im going to get that news. something tells me she will never give up. I am so proud of her.
Thank you for listening.

Update: Great News! Our

Update: Great News! Our member went on Craigslist and posted an add and a bit of her story. A very kind woman that was from a show on MTV contacted her and offered to help. She has a home in DC and took her and the baby in. This is temporary but will give her time to get things together. What an angel this woman is to help out. I will keep everyone posted as i know more. If anyone lives in this area please let me know. It would be wonderful to have someone available to check in on her or just talk on the phone if needed. Thank you everyone! xoxo only one way to go...Forward (tm?)

Grateful

Wow. My story is nothing compared to what this brave lady is enduring. I wish her the very best of luck. Can she get to a public library where she can get to the internet and also take out books on Narcissism and Psychopathy? I hope she can find a women's shelter - they will give her the help and support she will need for herself and her son.

You would think that this

You would think that this would be the case. I spent some time calling these shelters in her area last night and i was shocked to see the list of criteria that they have. Especially when you have an infant. This angers me beyond belief! only one way to go...Forward (tm?)

That's terrible!

Domestic violence shelters should be ESPECIALLY open to children;they're the most vulnerable ones. A DV shelter that shuts its doors to the littlest victims--infants--should be ASHAMED. May God grant you success in finding a place for this brave young woman.

Betty

What part of the country is she in? If she is near me, I would be glad for her to come here and stay. I have a big empty house, and love babies. I know the shelters here are suffering huge budget cuts and some are closing down. This breaks my heart. Please let me know. I would like to help. almostlydia

Metro DC area. I am so

Metro DC area. I am so shocked at what they make these poor women go through! Only certain shelters will take infants. Then you have to be within their county. They dont have emergency services. You have to check in early morning and late afternoon to see if there are any beds. You have to have filed a police report within the county of that shelter and their are just very few shelters for women with children. She may have to relocate to another area that can provide service for her. I dont know if this is just DC or everywhere. I just cant believe this. Still working on it. Have to wait till Monday. xoxo only one way to go...Forward (tm?)
