The ex-Psych professor seemed to have three hobbies: reading books, and watching TV shows/movies. Once, early in the "relationship",he said that he LACKED the ability to dream. Narcs are probably capable of some dreaming/REM sleep. Psychopaths are incapable... creepily reminds me of that National Geographic show about Fatal Familial Insomnia (a neurological disorder) The ex-P thought life was a movie. After the D&D, I told him "This is real life, NOT A GREEK TRAGEDY." When he said he saw himself as a role (as a teacher) instead of a person, I said that yes, that was his problem. He also said that he didn't respect students as persons, as human beings--and being the therapist, I said that yes, that was HIS problem. One of his favorite movie series was the Terminator one--about an emotionless killer robot. The ex-P's lack of emotion scared his students... and his colleagues. He'd say that one of his favorite lines is when the Terminator tells John Connor that humans have the tendency to destroy themselves.

Clueless and I just discussed this. That video is almost too painful for me to watch.

This song made me think of my ex too but more it made me so surprised that she would sing on a song like this after the Chris Brown incident. What a horrible message to be sending young girls. I worry for girls growing up I think they may start to normalize these volatile relationships.

For a lot of narc relationships. Not the way you want to spend your life! It seems like a lot of Ns love to quote songs, use lines from movies, etc. It sounds like you have a pretty straight-up therapist (read on your other thread about neither of you having the tools, etc). I hope that person keeps working out for you, and especially hope he/she understands NPD!
