Was anyone else's NARC into PS3 games non stop?

Just had to ask - it seemed like that was wear he felt he "belonged". First person shooter, making friends with others, lying about his status in life and what he owned. It was like virtual reality texting.

I would be interested in hearing similar stories from you guys.

The Fantasy of Ascent

An irony is that the ex-Psych professor castigated philosophy and the search for truth as a "fantasy of ascent", a refusal to accept the "hurly burly of human reality"... yet he considered himself a PHILOSOPHER. He thought he was BETTER than his scientist father because he was thinking profound thoughts instead of studying animal behavior. The ex-P was very much into fantasy/entertainment. He was always watching movies, TV, reading books... it's like he couldn't face reality. He deemed Yellowstone and other natural wonders "overrated." He couldn't get it why I'd like babysitting kids, picking berries with my father and my sister. He was within walking distance from great museums/art galleries... yet he was a hermit. As one of my classmates observed, philosophy was a head game for the ex-P. Being a "philosopher" meant NOT dealing with the "hurly burly of human reality."

just think how well it fits

One word....fantasy. And yes my n made this his life. This is his career, hobby... every part of his life revolves around games and entertainment... it is all part of their defense mechanism. Escaping the painful reality / emptiness they feel.
