The way the Narc looked at you

I am curious if anyone else can relate to the odd feeling I got sometimes from the way he looked at me. It is hard to describe but it was as though there was a glass case between us, or as though I was a character in a movie and he would take in my body gestures and expressions as though I was being evaluated. He heard me but it was like he was removed from the conversation in a weird way. Is this unique to my freak or is this part of their interaction style?
