Another Victim

Went out of town with a group of friends this past weekend. As we were sitting around in the bar of the hotel, one of them began to cry...said that her husband of three years announced to her in counselor's office that he no longer loved her & wants a divorce. He's been seeing another woman of course. She talked of how critical & demeaning he has been of her..and how she lied to everyone including herself trying to hold the marriage together. Her therapist diagnosed him with NPD. Like me, she had already come to that realization. We talked about how embarrassing it is that we were so duped...especially as we are both master level social workers.

It just seems that this personality disorder is much more prevalent in the population than what research indicates.
