Fly with the Angels

A true friend died today. I'm posting it here because he helped me heal. He was the only one here where I live that I trusted enough to tell about my past. He was my father's age and was more of a loving father than my own.

He used to say "Garden, I know you've been through so much, but there is more of life to live. Don't close yourself off from what happiness is left. Learn to trust again. You are still so young. Don't give in to the past, but fully live now."

He was the opposite of the N. A good and kind soul. He would do anything for anyone. He called twice a day to make sure I was ok and if I needed anything, yet he never let on how sick he was.

He was conscious for only a little while in the hospital and during that time he was still thinking more of me than himself. He was telling jokes, making me laugh. I'm glad we had those last few minutes together.

He gave me hope again...that people could be good. That some men are not bad like the N.
