How to recover list

After having recovered and healed, I want to make a list of what I did to recover. I hope this list can help you or give you some light for your recovery.

- Go no contact. No but, no if, no maybe. No contact is what will save you. Go no contact with the narc, but also clean your social circle, let go of toxic friends (who aren't really friends), of toxic relatives, of your boss (find another job if you must). Go no contact with everyone and everything that abuse you.

- Proceed the pain and sadness. Easier said than done, but don't be ashamed to feel sad, to cry, to curl up. Feel what you have to feel, then let it go. If you miss him, it's OK, give yourself the permission to feel what you have to feel, but do not act on your feelings.

- Update your surroundings. Get rid of pictures, phone messages, emails, clothes, anything that remind you of the abusive person. Gradually, change your surrounding for something more positive. This include what you read and watch and your favorite music. Feed your mind with positive input, it will feel strange at first, out of your comfort zone, but keep going, the positivity will soak you. Does it means I have to stop watching my favorite TV drama or throw away my favorite CD? If they are negative and about pain, dark or gloomy, yes. Going forward means saying goodbye to the old. Everything your mind come in contact with influence you, so give your mind positivity, peace and beautiful colors in your home.

- Eat well. Even if you don't feel hungry. Set up a routine and eat your 3 meals per day. Eat healthy, it's not the time to feed your body with junk food, alcohol, ton of coffee or anything else. Go slowly, change your habits.

- Do a sport. Even if you don't feel like it. You can proceed your pain and your anger through workout and sweating. Don't hold back, give everything you have. It will help your mind and your body to get rid of toxicity.

- Meditate. If you never tried meditation before, you may think it's only for the zen but meditation helped me a lot. I want to recommend this channel. You will find guided meditation video for free. Some videos are only 10 minutes long. Do them once per day. I strongly recommend:

- Once the fog has lifted, start working on your boundaries. Take a paper or on the computer, make a list of your new boundaries. Anything you wouldn't tolerate from a relationship or a friendship. List it all down. Make them clear. It can take many days as you go back and update, but do this task, write down your boundaries.

- Write your goals on paper or on computer and read them once per day. "To smile more" "To grow" "To move forward with peace" Write a few goals and read the list once per day. When you wish, update the list.

- There will be bad days for everyone, during a bad day, stay motivated by accomplishing a little something. Maybe you won't do your workout on a bad day but maybe you are able to eat your 3 healthy meals.

- As you change, some people may disappear from your life. Let them go. Anyone who leave you because you take care of yourself and have now good boundaries and respect for yourself, aren't good people for you anyway. People may leave, this is OK, because better people will come. Accept what is, face loneliness, face sadness, face anger, face everything, because you know what? You're strong and you ain't going down, you're going up.
