Remembering
I don't know what brought this to mind but I have to share a personal story...
for YEARS & YEARS I tried to get exNH into marriage counseling. No go.
BUT... when he found out I was involved in an emotional affair with psycho-boy? He DRAGGED ME. The counselor was an idiot who told me I should just "lose weight" (I have PCOS I am not an over-eater) that I should try to "Get Over" my disability (I have atypical M.S.) and that maybe my exNH would love me again.
I tried & tried & tried to explain to this woman he was a control freak; that I did NOT love him anymore because he'd mentally & emotionally & sexually stomped it all out of me. I even showed her Lundy Bancroft's great book WHY DOES HE DO THAT?
Her response: "abuse is a buzzword." She also had the temerity to tell me my therapist wasn't "doing a good job" if I had an emotional affair!
But the kicker???? Was one day - exNH (in his suit, tie with Palm Pilot in hand - where he kept a list of all the things he wanted to know I was doing and would DEMAND I answer them in front of the therapist to make me look bad when I refused) said "She put a CURSE ON ME!!! She wished me to get NOSE CANCER!" (something I said in an argument, completely stupid). "And about a month later I had cancer removed from my leg! She's got a CURSE ON ME"
The therapist, in dead seriousness turns to me and said "take the curse off him."
I (trying not to choke from holding back laughter) said "Ramma-Lamma-Ding-Dong the curse is gone."
The therapist smiled at exNH and said "there, she took off the curse."
I walked out of therapy in disgust about 2 weeks later. I had completely lost ANY respect for exNH as a person after that.
That was so funny, thank you
