The Story Of Narcissus- Are we Echo

The Story Of Narcissus:
Once upon a time, there was a boy called Narcissus. He was the son of a god and he was very, very handsome. Many women fell in love with him, but he turned them away. One of the women who loved Narcissus was a nymph called Echo. Echo could not speak properly - she could only repeat what was said to her, so she couldn't tell Narcissus that she loved him. One day, when Narcissus was walking in the woods with some friends, he became separated from them. He called out "Is anyone here?" Echo replied "Here, Here". Echo stepped forward with open arms, wanting to cuddle him. But Narcissus refused to accept Echo's love. Echo was so upset that she left and hid in a cave, until nothing was left of her, except her voice.
The Maiden, a goddess, found out about this, and she was very angry. She made Narcissus fall in love with himself. When Narcissus looked at his reflection in a pond one day, he fell in love. He stayed on that spot forever, until he died one day. Where he died a flower grew, and that flower is called a Narcissus.
The Story Of Echo:
Hera, the Queen of Mt. Olympus, cast a spell over her servant Echo for talking too much. As a punishment, Echo could henceforth only repeat what someone else said.
Poor Echo! She was in love with handsome Narcissus, and yearned to tell him so! One day Echo saw Narcissus admiring himself in a clear pond. Looking at his reflection, he vainly said to the face in the water, "I love you."
Echo repeated, "I love you," and meant it. But Narcissus thought it was his reflection that spoke and stood gazing at himself until he died and Hermes led him away to the Land of the Dead. Echo pined for him till she, too, faded away. All that was left of her was her voice that can still be heard in certain hollow places, senselessly repeating the words of others.

One part of me sees ourselves as echo..naive ..inlove and spellbound

The other part wants to know could Narcissus be really gay because he does love his masculine face..maybe that explains our N gender confusions..

Then the other part of me wants to know is Echo a BPD does her punishment allow her to observe other peoples reactions and personalities..and not her own..

This story always intrigues me..it has no scientific origin just myth and legionsn.but then again psychologist confirms it as a mental disorder of pathological reasoning..

I just love how a myth can be a psycological fact..

It really intrigues me..

Do you see yourself in Echo?

I will like to add this

I will like to add this Observational Note.. "Echo was a beautiful nymph, fond of the woods and hills, where she devoted herself to woodland sports. She was a favorite of Artemis, and attended her in the chase. But Echo had one failing; she was fond of talking, and whether in chat or argument, would have the last word." Here is wht Hera cast upon Echo..here is her exact words.. "You shall forfeit the use of that tongue with which you have cheated me, except for that one purpose you are so fond of - reply. You shall still have the last word, but no power to speak first." Note: Echo to me sounds a bit like us before she was punished..She was into sports..lively full of hope and happy..talked a lot chatted away..was basically living her life until she was punished for doing so.. Then she became a mute puppet..very similar to how N will leave you after sucking you dry also how you are in a relationship with a Narc..Echo could only repeat words that was heard..very similar to how a Narc wants a exstension of himself and wants us to only say what he says and do what he does.. Very interesting how this myth captures the disorder so well..Did the Greeks know something we didn't know.. Intriguing.. Echo was also a very beautiful and self assured girl before she met the Narc..and as soon s he rejected her she withered away in a cave only leave her voice.. That shows how we are beautiful women who was very sure of our selves until the N rejected us..then we witheredaway in our own cave..only leaving our own voice.. I wanted to duck from the world after I was rejected..I felt ugly fat..gained ten poundds probably more..I never felt so unatractive in my life..He made me feel like spit.. I can definintly relate to Echo.. Here is what Narcissus told echo when she ran into his arms.. "Hands off! I would rather die than you should have me!" Doesn't that soundvery Narcissist..like you can never ever havehim..it is something I believe my narc would say..probably th eupdated 2011 version..but he would definintly say something just like that.. He told me once im not yours.. There very vain and they believe no on ecan have them but themselves..all they have is themselves.. I feel so sorry for Echo she was the life of the party before being punished for being herself..almost tragic And yes there is a Greek homosexual version of Narcissus in the other part of Athens . Narcissus lived in the city of Thespiae. A young man, Ameinias, was in love with Narcissus, but he rejected Ameinias' love. He grew tired of Ameinias' affections and sent him a present of a sword. Ameinias killed himself with the sword in front of Narcissus' door and as he died, he called curses upon Narcissus. One day Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection in a spring and, in desperation, killed himself. This explains our anything goes Narcissit Men..The Greeks was definintly on to something..every body loved and fell for a Narsissit..exactly what is happening with us..

"In the fiery pit lays a man with two faces. One is the face of a God and the other a face of the Devil.Beware He lurks your souls.Keep one hand on your heart and the other hand over your eyes. Let him walk pass you not into you.Ghost of love will possess
