The Ten Demandments of Dysfunctional Relationships

A few weeks back, I posted "The Ten Commandments of the Self-Involved"- here it is in case you missed it:

http://ool-18bbf3b2.static.optonline.net/forum/2012/07/04/ten-commandmen...

We nailed the Narc with that- now it's the co-dependent's turn with: 'Ten Rules to Live By to Insure Unhappiness in a Relationship', or:

* THE TEN DEMANDMENTS OF DYSFUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS *

I. Thou shalt make me happy

II. Thou shalt not have any other interests other than me

III. Thou shalt know what I want and what I feel without me having to say

IV. Thou shalt return each one of my sacrifices with an equal or greater sacrifice

V. Thou shalt shield me from anxiety, worry, hurt, or any pain

VI. Thou shalt give me my sense of self-worth and esteem

VII. Thou shalt be grateful for everything I do

VIII. Thou shalt not be critical of me, show anger toward me, or otherwise disapprove of anything I do

IX. Thou shalt be so caring and loving that I need never take risks or be vulnerable in any way

X. Thou shalt love me with thy whole heart, thy whole soul, and thy whole mind, even if I do not love myself

(I'm not proud to I say that I'm guilty of a few of these...)

BTW, I didn't write 'The 10 Demandments'- a dear friend gave me these and I searched for it's author online. I can't verify this but some sources attribute 'The Demandments' to Richard H. Lucas. Ph.D
