"Why did you stay with him for so long?"
My friend asked me that today. Have you ever been asked that before? How did you respond? I have to admit, I felt a little offended... maybe 'cuz the implicit message behind that question is "What's wrong with you?? Why did you get yourself into that situation?" and that's really not the right way to approach the situation at all.
